A series of free heart-healthy workshops for older adults and the community are being presented by the city of Phoenix Human Services Department and the Arizona Heart Institute.
A workshop “Exercise and Conditioning: Diets and Other Ways to Stay Healthy,” will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, at Pecos Community Center, 17010 S. 48th St., by Kim Mostoller, manager, cardiovascular conditioning at the Arizona Heart Institute.
Attendees will learn how to begin a heart-healthy nutrition and exercise program to reduce risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death among Americans. Exercise has been proven to have a beneficial effect on reducing cardiovascular risk factors including diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and other chronic illnesses.
Mostoller provides patient care in all aspects of inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation.
