Air Force C-17s Visit GYR
Air Force C-17 have been operating out of GYR. For three weeks starting in April 2024, four Air Force C-17 aircraft (Globemaster lll) are operating out of GYR to conduct training missions. The aircraft are operating out of GYR because Luke Air Force Base is not open on some nights and weekends when they need to train. During the three-week visit, the C-17s will fly approximately six training missions.
The aircraft are assigned to the 62 Airlift Wing at McChord Air Force Base in Washington State.
